What is Markdown Prompting?

Markdown Prompting is the practice of writing AI prompts as structured markdown documents — clear H2 sections for the task, constraints, output format, and success criteria — instead of a single run-on sentence. Models like Claude, GPT, and Gemini follow structured markdown prompts more reliably because every requirement sits under its own labeled heading rather than buried mid-paragraph.

The Prompt Expander turns any rough idea into a Markdown Prompting document automatically — and unlike other prompt generators, it refuses to pad. No invented requirements, no “world-class expert” role-play filler. Everything it guessed is labeled under Assumptions, so you can edit or delete its inferences and keep the intent yours.

  • 01Sections beat sentences. A markdown prompt with Task, Constraints, and Output Format sections gives the model unambiguous instructions to check itself against.
  • 02Labeled guesses keep you in control. Anything the expander inferred lands in an Assumptions block you can edit — not silently baked into your prompt.
  • 03Clarity, not length. A good prompt comes back nearly unchanged. Markdown Prompting is about structure, never word count.
